Heart Evangelista, Chiz Escudero on prenup, inheritance, money matters
Gives advice to the LGBT community, too!
Heart Evangelista and husband Chiz Escudero are back on YouTube as they talk about adutling, most especially on what prenuptial is all about, as the couple had this agreement before getting married.
In the 30-minute video, Escudero explained that if a prenup agreement wasn't made, then all the assets of both parties belong to each other. “For those of you who don’t understand how a prenup really works, some are afraid kasi, what if—knock, knock, knock—what if may masamang mangyari sa partner mo, hindi raw mapupunta sa kanila or sa family nila,” Evangelista starts off.

Chiz Escudero continues, "If the guy dies, the spouse will automatically have 50 percent. And then from the guy’s 50 percent, dun magsi-share yung asawa niya, yung anak niya, or depende kung may anak siya sa labas.” He also added that inheritance will only go to the spouse or children but never to the parents or siblings. This will only happen if the deceased doesn't have a spouse or children.
Like Escudero and Evangelista, the couple reminds interested parties that a prenup should be no issue if both parties agree to this arrangement.
They also discussed how the LGBT community should handle situations like this, especially when marriage isn't allowed here in the country yet. "If it's about properties you've accumulated, you can enter into a partnership or corporation." This should be filed under the SEC and signed by both parties. "There's always a way around it," reminds Escudero. "Ask your lawyer," he adds.
