Mandaluyong LGU distributes COVID-19 health kits

The Mandaluyong City local government started on Thursday, Jan. 13, the distribution of COVID-19 Health Kits to its residents as part of its efforts to combat the surge in COVID-19 cases in the city.

In a set of photos posted on its official Facebook page, the local government unit (LGU) started the distribution of the kits in Barangay Addition Hills. Barangay Chairman Karlito Cernal, together with employees from the LGU, led the distribution.

According to Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos, their primary focus in distributing the health kits is to give its residents adequate medicines after the reported shortage of over-the-counter drugs for cough, colds, and flu in drugstores.

Abalos said the kit contains essential drugs for cough, colds, and flu. It also includes Vitamin C, mentholated rub, alcohol, face mask, and towel for adults and kids.

"This kit is to prepare household members by strengthening their immune system with supplements and to prevent their sickness from getting worse should they develop any symptoms. We are also reminding everyone to avoid any leisure activities right now and stay at home," she said.

The mayor assured that the LGU will continue to distribute the health kits to other areas in Mandaluyong. She also urged the public to get vaccinated and boosted against the coronavirus.

The City Health Office (CHO) reported that on Jan. 13, a total of 1,103,840 vaccines have been deployed in the city. Of this number, 526,745 residents have received their first dose while 506,483 have been fully vaccinated.
