Makati City's active COVID-19 cases surpass 1,000-mark

The Makati city government announced that its active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases have surpassed the 1,000-mark with 1, 044 cases new cases recorded on Thursday, Jan. 13, from 998 cases on Wednesday, Jan. 12.

The city joined other cities in Metro Manila that have breached the 1,000-mark due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus brought about by the Omicron variant.

Prior to the surge, the city saw less than 50 active cases from Dec. 1 to Dec. 28, 2021, logging only 16 active cases on Dec. 21.

Active cases jumped to more than 100 on Jan. 1, with 164 cases.

The barangays with the highest recorded active cases on Jan. 13 are Poblacion with 104, Bel Air with 95, and San Lorenzo with 84 for District 1.

For District 2, Brgy. Pembo had 54 active cases, followed by West Rembo with 38, and Guadalupe Viejo with 34.

Barangays in District 1 with the least recorded active cases on Jan. 13 are Urdaneta with seven cases, Sta. Cruz with eight cases, and Forbes Park with nine cases.

Brgy. PP Northside in District 2 logged zero active case on Jan. 13, followed by PP Southside with three cases, and Pinagkaisahan with seven cases.

The Makati city government continues to remind its residents to follow the minimum health and safety protocols, for them to stay in their homes, and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.

As of Jan. 13, Makati city logged 46, 479 confirmed cases, 44, 446 recoveries, and 989 deaths.
