Petro Gazz signs Maizo, Phillips and Pineda

The Petro Gazz Angels reinforced their arsenal for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League Open Conference by signing Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Mj Phillips and Bang Pineda.

The team announced this on social media Wednesday night, joining fresh acquisitions Mariella Gabarda and Nicole Tiamzon.

“Finally! Let’s officially welcome three of our newest Angels!” the post read.

“Established names in the industry, Aiza Maizo, Mj Phillips and Bang Pineda (are) all #GazzedUp to give us exciting games ahead!! Who’s ready?! #Refueled2022.”

The trios are all coming from their stint with the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors, who decided to take a leave of absence from the league this season.

Pineda, a libero, played in multiple clubs and won the Best Digger plum in the then Shakey’s V-League Open Conference in 2014, while opposite spiker Pontillas was a multiple Most Valuable Player awardee and a member of the national team that won bronze in the 2019 ASEAN Grand Prix.

Fil-American Phillips, for her part, has played multiple positions as opposite hitter, outside hitter and middle blocker.

Aside from the new recruits, the Angels are also welcoming the return of Cienne Cruz, Djanel Cheng and Jonah Sabete.
