Navotas City Hospital expansion to be finished this year

The Navotas City Hospital is set to complete its expansion and renovation this year, the hospital said on Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Established in 2014, the Navotas City Hospital became the first-ever public hospital in the city that has served thousands of residents.

Kaya ginawan natin ng expansion ang ospital at mabigyan pa natin ng kalidad na serbisyo ang ating mga kababayan (As time went on, more and more people came to . So, we did an expansion of the hospital to provide our countrymen more quality service),” Mayor Tobias “Toby” Tiangco said in a video posted on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

He said that the completion of the renovation was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bed capacity of the hospital has increased from 50 to 120, and 15 more intensive care unit (ICU) beds were set up for patients in critical conditions.

The hospital has an additional computerized tomography (CT) scan for the Radiology Department and an automated laboratory and pathology.

The laboratory services included hematology, microbiology, blood chemistry, immunology, and serology for the patients.

Tiangco said once the improvements are completed, the hospital will meet the qualifications as a Level 2 Department of Health-accredited facility.

“Matatapatan na rin po natin ang kalidad ng serbisyo ng mga malalaki at pribadong ospital (We will finally be able to attain the quality of service that can be seen in big and private hospitals),” he added.

Meanwhile, the city mayor said that all residents of Navotas can avail of free medical services.

Aside from the extension of the city-run hospital, the LGU also announced the beginning of the construction of the Navotas Convention Center (NCC) on Jan. 12. (Cherrylin Caacbay)
