Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu begins reign in New York

Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu of India has arrived in New York as she began her year-long reign as Miss Universe.
Upon her arrival in the Big Apple, Sandhu experienced her first snow and first ferry trip. Then she got busy with the press tour.
The winner of Miss Universe moves to the US for one year to work with the Miss Universe Organization.
The MUO has also uploaded a video of her arrival at her New York apartment, where the past winners also stayed.
"I’m so, so excited right now, you have no idea. I've waited for this day since I think I was 1. So come with me. I'm excited to explore my new apartment. My home for the next one year," she said.
"Finally, we are here! Are you guys excited? I can't wait. Let's do it," said Sandhu in the clip, as she opened the door of her unit. Then she finally walked into the door of her apartment. "This is a newly designed apartment."
She got a letter from Andrea Meza, former Miss Universe from Mexico. "That's so sweet of her."
Sandhu said: "I'm trying to control my emotions. Imagine, I came from India, I had a flyover in Doha, then a 14-hour flight to New York. I'm not sleepy."
But she revealed she lost her luggage. "But I'm not panicking, because I'm here, I'm living the dream."
This is Sandhu's first visit to the US. Her first meal in New York was at the Pinto Garden, a Thai restaurant.
Sandhu is the third Miss Universe from India. She was crowned at the 70th Miss Universe Competition in Eilat, Israel in December.
