Are the Sex Bob-Ombs having an animated reunion?
Get ready because it looks like the Sex Bob-Omb band will be rocking our world again, as Netflix is reportedly developing an anime version of the hit graphic novel “Scott Pilgrim.”
News about the production first appeared in a post by The Hollywood Report. According to the article, the streaming platform is working with UCP, the division of Universal Studio Group behind “The Umbrella Academy,” to realize the project. Working as the writer for the anime version is the original author of the graphic novel series, Bryan Lee O’Malley. Together with BenDavid Grabinski and Edgar Wright, who directed the 2010 film adaption, O'Malley will also be one of the show's producers.
“Scott Pilgrim” is a six-volume series first published in 2004. Its story centers on the eponymous character, a slacker and bassist of a band named Sex Bob-Omb in Toronto. His life took a turn when he falls in love with American girl Ramona Flowers. But in order for them to go through with their relationship, Scott must first face and defeat her “League of Evil Exes.”

In 2010, the graphic novel was adapted into a movie, “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” with Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers. Its stellar cast included Jason Schwartzman, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Allison Pill, and Brandon Routh, among others. Netflix has yet to release an official statement regarding the rumored remake, but if fans are to be heard, who wouldn't want to see Scott beat Ramona's seven evil exes again?
