The northeast monsoon, locally called "amihan," will bring partly cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers over Luzon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

PAGASA said that Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated light amihan rains.

The amihan may also bring slightly colder weather in these areas compared to other parts of the country.

Based on the PAGASA's monitoring, the lowest air temperatures recorded on Jan. 11 are as follows:

Baguio City -- 12.2 degrees Celsius (°C)

Malaybalay, Bukidnon -- 17.5°C

San Jose, Occidental Mindoro -- 17.5°C

Tanay, Rizal -- 19.4°C

Iba, Zambales -- 19.6°C

Casiguran, Aurora -- 20.0°C

Basco, Batanes -- 20.1°C

Laoag City, Ilocos Norte -- 20.3°C

Sinait, Ilocos Sur -- 20.5°C

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan -- 20.5°C

Meanwhile, the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.

PAGASA warned the public that severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides particularly in areas that are highly susceptible to these hazards.

Weather specialist Grace Castañeda said PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area inside the Philippine area of responsibility as of Tuesday morning.

Moreover, no gale warning is in effect over the country's seaboards.

Moderate to rough seas may prevail over Luzon, while slight to moderate seas may persist over the rest of the country.

As such, sea travel is safe even for fisherfolk and others with small sea vessels, PAGASA said.
