Muntinlupa police chief Col. Melecio Buslig Jr. has left his post in a reshuffle implemented by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
"These new assignments are subject to the order of the Higher Headquarters. It is a part of the PNP program to give others a chance to hold high positions which is one of the requirements for an official to be promoted,” said Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg.

Police Col. Angel Garcillano replaced Buslig as the new police chief of Muntinlupa on Jan. 8, a day before the election period started on Jan. 9. The chiefs of police of Las Pinas and Taguig were also replaced.
Buslig assumed office in Muntinlupa in August 2020 and served for 17 months in the city.
“To the men and women of Muntinlupa CPS, thank you for your unwavering support and cooperation during my stint as your Chief of Police,” said Buslig.
Buslig said during his stint as the Muntinlupa police chief, 967 people were arrested for drug-related activities.
Under his leadership, marijuana and 4,547 grams of shabu with a value of P30.92 million were confiscated.
In addition, 816 wanted persons were arrested and 1,042 people were nabbed for illegal gambling.
Buslig also said 38 arrests were implemented for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The Muntinlupa police confiscated 31 firearms while 60 firearms were surrendered.
He also said 66,558 individuals were warned, cited and fined for violation of COVID-19-related Muntinlupa ordinances.
“We did our job and we did it well. Special thanks to Ninong Mayor Jimmy Fresnedi for giving me a chance to lead PNP Muntinlupa and to serve Muntilupeños. My utmost gratitude also to Hon. Congressman Ruffy Biazon for all the support you have given to PNP Muntinlupa,” said Buslig.
He also thanked Muntinlupa City government department heads led by City Administrator Allan Cachuela, barangay captains, stakeholders, his staff, deputies, sub-station commanders, key personnel and staff.
