'Major loss to PH education': DepEd mourns passing of physicist-educator
The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday, Jan. 10, expressed its condolences to the family of Dr. Maria Victoria Carpio-Bernido, a renowned physicist-educator and a 2010 Ramon Magsaysay Award awardee.

“We offer our sincere condolences to the Bernido family in this time of sorrow,” DepEd said in a statement. “Her passing is a major loss to Philippine education, and we are one with the education community in remembering her legacy,” the agency added.
Aside from being a dedicated physicist-educator, DepEd said that Dr. Carpio-Bernido will be remembered as a “committed champion” of Philippine basic education for her innovative work in education through the Central Visayas Institute Foundation - Dynamic Learning Program (CVIF-DLP).
