Bacoor City Hall limits operations after 190 workers contract COVID-19

BACOOR CITY, Cavite – The city hall is currently on limited operations after 190 of its employees tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Mayor Lani Mercado Revilla said on Monday (Jan. 10).

Most of the city hall employees who contracted the virus are currently working from home while others are staying in isolation facilities.

"Nagkaroon lang ho kami ng OIC sa bawat tanggapan pero yung mga nagbibigay ng serbisyo sa health, sa disaster, nandyan din ang renewal ng real property taxes tsaka yung pagbabayad po ng ating business permits ay nandyan pa rin po, in place pa rin (We assigned officers-in-charge for each department. But services related to health, disaster and processing of payments for real property taxes and business permits are still in place)," Revilla said in an interview with DZMM TeleRadyo.

"Pero konti lang po ang aming mga tauhan dahil sa contamination na rin po dito sa aming city hall (But we have few employees working because of the contamination in our city hall)."

City hall workers were tested for COVID-19 over the first week of 2022, after the Holiday revelries.

The city government has also started testing barangay frontliners to make sure that they're not spreading the virus as they perform their duties.

According to Revilla, they will try to intensify their testing operations this week even though some of their swabbers and other City Health Office workers are also in isolation due to COVID-19.

As of Jan. 10, the city has recorded 1,076 active COVID-19 cases.
