Here are the 20 top-grossing films in South Korea in 2021


“Spider-Man: No Way Home” climbed its way to the spot as the No. 1 top-grossing film in South Korea in 2021.

The Korean Film Council (KOFIC), which tracks box office receipts, released the ranking of the top movies released in South Korea in 2021.

In the top 10 movies of 2021, seven came from the US, two from South Korea and one from Japan.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” starring Tom Holland, Zendaya and Benedict Cumberbatch, was released in Korea on Dec. 15. In just 17 days, the film recorded 5.5 million in total cinema admissions and grossed $46.76 million.

Placing second is the South Korean movie “Escape from Mogadishu” starring Kim Yoon-seok and Jo In-sung. The film, released on July 28, sold 3.61 million tickets and grossed $29 million in 2021.

Third is the “Eternals,” released on Nov. 3, recorded total admissions of 3.05 million and revenue of $26.65 million at the Korean box office last year.

“Black Widow” ranked fourth with 2.96 million tickets sold and a gross of $25.19 million followed by “Fast & Furious 9” with 2.29 million in total admissions and $18.52 million in revenue.
