Yuka Saso and Bianca Pagdanganan fumbled in the opening round of the LPGA Tour’s Volunteer of America Classic at The Colony, Texas Thursday, Sept. 29 (Friday in Manila).

Saso struggled with a two-over par 73 for a share of 60th place while Pagdanganan limped home with a 75 for joint 91st to trail solo leader Xiyu Lin by eight and 10 strokes, respectively.
The 21-year-old Saso couldn’t find her form at the front nine as she bogeyed the second and seventh holes.
She showed her resolve with back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th, only to blunder with a double bogey on the par-3 16th hole.
Like Saso, Pagdanganan also couldn’t find her touch and managed only with four bogeys including three at the back nine.
Lin turned in an eagle-aided six-under 65 to lead by Atthaya Thitikul and Lizette Salas by one stroke.
She had three birdies against a bogey on the fourth at the front nine, and was flawless at the back nine by firing two more birdies and an eagle 3 on the 17th.
Meanwhile, Saso tees off in the second round at 1:16 p.m. while Pagdanganan is set at 8:37 a.m.
