Lt. Col. Hemilyn Escudero Tamayo bid goodbye as Mrs. Tourism Universe 2021 as she paid tribute to the people who made her reign successful. 

"Mothers care and mothers love unconditionally. All women who have previously competed and are competing today are all mothers who love unconditionally and care for the world. It was such a huge honor for me to participate along with these amazing women. It was truly a humbling experience to be able to compete at the height of the pandemic. In spite of the challenges, we were able to accomplish our required photo and video shoots all over the Philippines. We literally made a stage inside our house for the commencement of the virtual coronation. It was such an experience. I managed to pull through during the competition as well as my reign because of these awesome people whom I want to thank sincerely and gratefully. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all of your efforts and hard work. I am truly blessed to have all of you and because of this I was able to achieve this humble crown. To you all, I dedicate this achievement.

The grand coronation of Mrs. Tourism Universe 2022 pageant will be held at the Montien Riverside Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday, Oct. 2.

A year ago, Hemilyn was crowned Mrs. Tourism Universe 2021 in a virtual ceremony where she bested other married women and single mothers from all over the world.

The international friendly competition is a brainchild of the Mother of All Pageants Ovette Ricalde and true to its tagline "A Mother Who Cares for the World", Hemilyn fulfilled her duties and responsibilities from the first day of her reign as the top winner of the competition. She immersed herself in various outreach and charity work programs at the height of the pandemic. 

Hemilyn, a Philippine Air Force Reservist Officer, was recently commissioned with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and completed her post graduate course with a degree of Masters in Psychology Major in Developmental Psychology.

She is also one of the key persons behind the Mind Care Center under the Psychology Department of the Perpetual Help Medical Center. The center provides psychological assessment, consultation, counseling, psychotherapy and even seminars and training, team buildings and the likes.

The former president of one of the oldest beauty contests in the country, Mutya Ng Pilipinas, she was also bestowed with recognitions from various award-giving bodies for her contributions and dedications to her crafts.

She received the SDP World Excellency Business Award in India 2021, Philippine Faces of Success as an Outstanding Beauty Queen and Businesswoman 2021, and the Outstanding Filipino Luminary Awards as Private Citizen 2021. 

As an artist, Hemilyn is a bonafide member of the United Women's Artist Association of the Philippines and a member of the New York Artist Equity Association Inc.

Most of her art works were bought by either art collectors/enthusiasts and friends. She also became a mentor and trainer in a well-known and respected international modeling and personality development school John Robert Powers Inc and later on Managing Director of Total Image Manila, a talent development and beauty pageant training school for aspiring beauty queens and models.

She is a Marketing Specialist and shared her expertise to newbies show's producers and organizers to penetrate the mainstream of their respective fields. Probably in the near future she might entertain the idea of entering into politics. Her father was a public servant for almost three decades, and former Senator Chiz Escudero is a relative.
