The Overseas Worker Welfare Administration (OWWA) distributed a total of P1,650,00 to the group of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) that was repatriated from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The 165 OFWs, together with 12 children, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Wednesday, Sept. 28, on board Philippine Airlines Flight PR655.
OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio said most of the OFWs fled their employers due to abuses while some are suffering from various illnesses that need immediate medical attention.
Those who were cleared from health protocols were immediately sent to their respective provinces, while those need to undergo quarantine were sent to a facility or a hotel
The repatriation of OFWs from Saudi Arabia is an offshoot of the bilateral talks of Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Sec. Susan Ople with her counterpart in Saudi Arabia.
