Gatchalian seeks permanent home for VP

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian is seeking a permanent home for the country’s Vice President.

During a Senate Fiinance Committee hearing Thursday, Sept. 29, Gatchalian said the proposed P2.3 billion budget for the Office of the Vice President (OVP) next year could be tapped for finding a permanent home for the OVP.

Gatchalian said that for the past two administrations, the OVP has been moving from one place to another.

“Being an important institution, and OVP is a very important institution, we need to find ways ... for the OVP to be able to find a permanent home,’’ he said.

He said a P5 million to P10 million budget for down payment is ‘’not enough".

‘’So, we will support an additional budget so that we will have a permanent home for the Vice President," he added.

Former Vice President Jojo Binay stayed at the Coconut Palace near the Sofitel Hotel and Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

Former Vice President Leni Robredo stayed at the Quezon City Executive House.
