A total of 53 families were awarded with lots and were issued with deeds of sale for the land where their homes are erected in Caloocan City on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

The Caloocan City government held the awarding of the lots and issuance of the deed of sale (contract issued to a buyer for ownership over a property) to the families at the Brgy. 174 Covered Court.

According to the city government, 166 hectares of land were awarded to 53 families, 21 of which were issued with deeds of sale in line with the Camarin 1 and 2 Project of the Housing and Resettlement Office (HARO) and the National Housing Authority (NHA).

According to HARO, the beneficiaries are long-term occupants of the 166 hectares of land located in Barangays 174, 175, 176, and 177 in the city.

Through the Caloocan HARO and NHA, the 32 families who were awarded with the lots can now buy their areas at a low price, which they will pay in 25 years.

Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan expressed his gratitude to the HARO, NHA and the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP)-National Capital Region for assisting the city government in its projects that aim to provide land and socialized housing projects for qualified residents.

He said the local government will reach out to more agencies and organizations for affordable housing and land.

HARO Officer-in-charge Engr. Noemi Obina said the occupants shall only settle a small amount to complete the 25-year-installment to the city government in order to secure their current homes.

“Mababa lang po ang hulog, depende sa laki ng lote at pwede itong bayaran sa loob ng 25 years para hindi mabigat. Nais nating mapanatag ang ating mga kababayan na sa kanila na maipangalan ang kanilang loteng tinitirhan (The installment payment is low, depending on the size of the lot and this can be paid within 25 years so it will not be burdensome . We want to reassure our people that the lots they live on are under their names),” she said.

PCUP-NCR Commissioner-in-charge Reynaldo Galupo thanked the city government for providing accessible shelter to its residents.

“Ramdam natin na mas pinapalawig ng Caloocan ang mga programa ukol sa murang pabahay at lupa. Kami sa pamahalaang nasyonal ay patuloy na makikipag-ugnayan para makatulong pa sa mas marami nating mga kababayang Pilipino na magkaroon ng sariling tirahan (Your local government is expanding its programs for affordable housing and land. We, in the national government, will continue to coordinate with your local government to help more Filipinos have their own homes.),” the commissioner stated.
