Seiko and Grand Seiko open new store in Power Plant Mall
When it comes to timepieces, nothing beats the classic style. It is always the prime rule when selecting the perfect watch. While we now live in a world filled with so many ‘-core’ style aesthetics, for many legacy watch brands, merging modern designs with timeless looks is the key to making watches that truly stand the test of our ever-changing style preferences.
That is what Seiko has been doing for years, which helped it earn not just a massive Filipino following but make it a true master in the art of watchmaking. This time, the Japanese watchmaker continues its mission by presenting its latest lines of timepieces for the Seiko and Grand Seiko brands, together with the launching of its newest boutique located at Power Plant Mall in Makati City.
Last Sept. 19, Japan’s Mid-Autumn Festival, the Tsukimi, came to Manila during the unveiling of the newest store. Watch aficionados and fans of the brand will definitely love its new space. Inside the sleek store are the two new additions to the Grand Seiko Sport Collection. Its travel-ready quartz GMT watch boasts a stainless-steel case and a dual-curve sapphire crystal surrounded by a fixed stainless-steel bezel with a 24-hour scale. The new designs feature a black sunray dial with otherwise monochromatic highlights (SBGN027) and a blue sunray dial with red-color accents on the dial text and GMT hand (SBGN029). What shoppers should miss as well is its Heritage collection’s newest piece, the SLGH013, inspired by the melting snows of Mt. Iwate in the Tōhoku region of northern Honshū, Japan. Lastly, also available in the store is the Evolution 9 collection, a line where Japan’s culture meets contemporary design.
Apart from Grand Seiko's luxury timepieces, the new store also displays Seiko’s newest limited edition pieces, such as the Astron 5X Caliber, inspired by the vibrant neon lights of Tokyo’s night scene. There is also the Prospex Speedtimer SSC813 that is powered by light energy, designed with a curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and water-resistant for up to 10 bar. Representing the true spirit of the Seiko brand is the Prospex LX, a dependable watch for athletes and sports aficionados.
