LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Six towns in this province battered by super typhoon “Karding” have been placed under a state of calamity.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by presiding officer Vice Gov. Third Alcala passed a resolution on Tuesday, Sept. 27, declaring Polillo, Patnanungan, Panukulan, Jomalig, Burdeus, and General Nakar in a state of calamity.
The resolution enables the release of the P70-million quick response fund to swiftly assist typhoon victims in the northern part of Quezon, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council said.
PDRRMO head Melchor Avenilla Jr. said the six towns sustained P186 million in damage to agriculture.
Avenilla said 16,000 fishermen and farmers were affected.
Almost 3,000 hectares of farmland planted to corn and rice, 2,878 hectares of fruit-bearing trees, and 27,640 coconut trees were destroyed
