Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando thanked on Monday, Sept. 26, the five valiant rescuers who died while performing their duty to save their fellow residents from flood at the height of Super Typhoon Karding.
“Salamat at paalam, bayaning tagapagligtas (Thank you and goodbye, hero rescuers),” the governor said as he deeply sympathized with the bereaved families of the rescue workers.
Fernando honored the responders from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) -- George E. Agustin, 45, of Iba 'O' Este, Calumpit; Troy Justin P. Agustin, 30, of Sta Rita, Guiguinto; Marby B. Bartolome, 36, of Bulihan, Malolos City; Jerson L. Resurrection, 32, of Barangay Catmon, Sta Maria, and Narciso Calayag Jr., 33, of Malolos City -- for their selflessness and bravery.
He said the five represent all the best qualities of a true Bulakenyo.
"Public safety is more than just a job... it's a call of service. That's why we salute them for responding to that call, they took the responsibility for us'," the Bulacan governor said.
"George, Troy, Marby, Jerson, and Narciso, the eternal gratitude for your immeasurable goodness and your stories of heroism will be repeated," he added.
The Bulacan governor said that their great sacrifice will be unforgettable and is engraved in the history of the province of Bulacan and in the heart of every Bulakenyo.
