PH Red Cross continues to assist 'Karding'-affected individuals


The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continues to assist individuals affected by typhoon Karding by providing hot meals and setting up welfare stations in evacuation centers.

In a report, PRC said that over 1,000 evacuees in Baseco Compound, Manila City; Bagong Silangan Elementary School, Quezon City; Marikina Elementary School and Concepcion Elementary School, Marikina City; Louis Francisco Elementary School, Valenzuela City; Infanta National High School, Quezon; Barangay Pansol, Pila, Laguna; Pakil Elementary School, Pakil, Laguna; Barangay Pinagbayanan, Mabitac, Laguna; and Siniloan Elementary School, Siniloan, Laguna were served hot meals by the organization.

PRC team also set up a first aid station and welfare desk in an evacuation center in Valenzuela City, the organization said.

Moreover, PRC Quezon-Lucena Chapter also set up a welfare desk with a generator in Infanta National High School to enable people charge their mobile devices for free.

PRC also said that its staff and volunteers assisted the evacuees in Marikina City in returning back to their homes.

PRC staff and volunteer teams have already been deployed to Polillo Island, Bulacan, Antique, and Quezon-Lucena area to conduct in-depth assessments on the situation, the organization added.

"A payloader will also be deployed today to help with clearing operations in Barangay Antutot, Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya. Trained personnel will conduct psychological first aid to adults and children in the Infanta National High School evacuation center," PRC added.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's 5 p.m. bulletin, the center of the eye of typhoon Karding was last seen 425 kilometers west of Dagupan City in Pangasinan as of 4 p.m.

The state weather bureau has already lifted all wind signals across the country.
