Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon commended the city’s disaster response team, barangays and national agencies for working during typhoon “Karding” to ensure the safety of residents.
“Taking the time to honor our frontliners, mga kawani at personnel ng lokal na pamahalaan, mga barangay, at national agencies na buong pwersang tumutok sa kaligtasan ng ating mga kababayan sa gitna ng bagyong #KardingPH (Taking time to honor our frontliners, employees and personnel of the local government, barangays and national agencies that focused on the safety of our citizens amid typhoon #KardingPH),” he said.
On Sept. 25, 4,019 individuals were evacuated from seven barangays in Muntinlupa.
Biazon emphasized during the incident briefing on Sept. 25, the safety and support to the emergency response personnel to effectively respond when needed.
He also thanked City Administrator Engr. Allan Cachuela who visited evacuation sites and Erwin Alfonso of the Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management.
To respond to the threat of the typhoon, Biazon activated the Incident Command System and 'Incident Management Team.
Vehicles of the city government were put on standby at the city hall quadrangle for emergency response.
The Environmental Sanitation Center (ESC) cut tree branches as a preemptive measure.
Preemptive evacuation was done and affected residents were sheltered in evacuation sites in schools and barangays. Relief goods were prepared for affected families.
As of this writing, most of the evacuees in Muntinlupa have returned to their homes.
