'Karding' sends 3,102 Cavite City residents to evacuation centers


CAVITE CITY – The local government unit here preemptively evacuated 3,102 individuals on Sunday, Sept. 25, amid the onslaught of Typhoon Karding.

The 882 evacuated families were sheltered in 14 schools, chapels, and halls which were being used as evacuation centers, Mayor Denver Chua told the Manila Bulletin in a text message on Monday, Sept. 26.

The evacuees were given hot meals as they waited for the typhoon to pass.

Most of the families were from coastal areas of the city located in a hook-shaped peninsula surrounded by Manila Bay, Bacoor Bay, and Cañacao Bay.

Chua said they have not recorded any major infrastructure damage due to the typhoon.
