Frasco hails almost 28% increase on DOT 2023 budget

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco on Monday, Sept. 26, lauded the swift approval of the Department’s proposed budget for the fiscal year 2023-2024.

In a statement, Frasco cited Isabela 6th District Rep. Fustino "Inno" Dy V for defending the DOT’s budget deliberation at the House of Representatives.

Frasco also expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support of the legislators, especially for the aligned programs and objectives of the DOT.

The DOT and its attached agencies and corporations have a total recommended budget amounting to P3.573 billion which is 27.87 percent higher than this year’s appropriations, according to Frasco.

She added that the DOT’s 2023 budget allows the provision of effective and efficient services to its primary concerns, especially in promoting the Philippines' tourism in the global arena.

Frasco recently presented to the Philippine Economic Briefing (PEB) in New York their comprehensive plan, goals, and strategies to revitalize the tourism sector. The PEB forum was organized to entice businesses from the United States and other countries to invest in the Philippines.

Before returning to the Philippines, Frasco met with tourism stakeholders at the Philippine Consulate in New York.

“I finally made it to my Listening Tour with Tourism Stakeholders at the Philippine Consulate. It was an enlightening afternoon with discussions on promotion and marketing; providing a more seamless experience for tourists traveling to and within the country; tapping into niché markets and promoting our new tourism products; among others,” she said.
