DMW to assist OFW families affected by 'Karding'

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) vowed on Monday, Sept. 26, to extend assistance to the families of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the onslaught of typhoon "Karding".

DMW Sec. Susan Toots Ople said the assistance package will be through their regional offices, especially in areas severely affected by the weather disturbance since Saturday night.

"The nature of assistance will be discussed tomorrow during our senior officials' meeting," said Ople.

Thousands of families were affected by the strong winds and heavy rains unleashed by "Karding".

Ople said they are now consolidating the data as to how many OFW families were affected, especially in Luzon.

"We are now waiting for the reports from our regional offices. The data will be more clear tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 27)," said Ople.
