80 families evacuated in Las Piñas due to typhoon 'Karding'


The city government of Las Piñas reported that a total of 80 families were evacuated from their homes on Sunday, Sept. 25 due to typhoon “Karding”.

The 80 families or 211 individuals from Elias Aldana and Talon were preemptively evacuated as typhoon “Karding” lashed through parts of Luzon, and spent the night at evacuation centers managed by the city Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) and City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said family food packs and sleeping materials were immediately provided to the evacuees.

Aguilar said the City Operations Center (COP) was immediately activated and response vehicles, equipment, and relief goods were immediately prepositioned.

She said there was no casualty and injury reported.

The mayor said there was no reported significant flooding in the city except in Saging St. Barangay CAA which reported four inches of floodwater during heavy rainfall. All main roads in the city remained passable.
