Marcos bared during a media interview before leaving the US that he had a meeting with Kissinger, a former US secretary of state during Marcos Sr. regime.

"We had a very, shall we say, satisfying meeting with Dr. Henry Kissinger," he said.

The President said Kissinger recalled his relationship and friendship with the Marcoses when the late dictator was in power.

He revealed that he invited the 99-year-old Kissinger to visit the Philippines again.

"Tapos kinukuwento niya sa akin yung pagpunta niya sa Pilipinas na yung mga memories niya doon at inimbita ko siya ulit sa Pilipinas (He was telling me his experience in visiting the Philippines, his memories there, and I invited him to go to the Philippines again)," he said.

He shared that their conversation was "very constructive and very pleasant."

"Tinatanong lang naman niya sa akin anong tingin mo rito? Kumusta na kayo sa Pilipinas? (He was just asking what I think about certain things. How are we in the Philippines?)," he said.

"So it was very constructive and very, very pleasant," he added, saying that he invited Kissinger to visit the country again so he can personally see the changes here since the time of his father.

He further revealed that Kissinger expressed his intention to call on former first lady Imelda Marcos.

"At sabi niya (He said) and I want to call on your mother. Sabi ko ‘di siyempre matutuwa yung mother ko pagka nakita ka (So I told him: my mother would be glad to see you)," he said.

"So it was a very warm --- I have to say, a I very warm meeting and it was nice to see the affection that had been developed between the Dr. and --- not only my parents but the Philippines," he added.

Kissinger visited the Philippines in 1975 as part of the delegation of then US President Gerald Ford during his official visit to the country.
