Court work suspended Sept. 26 in NCR, Luzon provinces due to typhoon ‘Karding’

Supreme Court (SC)

The Supreme Court (SC) ordered the suspension of work on Monday, Sept. 26, in all courts in the National Capital Region, Region III (Central Luzon), and Regions IV and V (Southern Luzon) due to Super Typhoon “Karding.”

Acting Chief Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen issued the work suspension. Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo is on official trip abroad and will be back on Sept. 27.

The directive means there will be no work in the SC, Court of Appeals in Manila, Sandiganbayan, Court of Tax Appeals, and all trial courts in the four areas covered by Leonen’s directive.

Trial court judges outside of the four areas were given the discretion to suspend work in their areas of jurisdiction.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has issued an advisory that Cagayan Valley (Region 2), Bicol (Region 5), and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) were already on red alert status.

Several local government units (LGUs) in the NCR and in Luzon have similarly issued work suspensions on Monday, Sept. 26.
