Bulacan braces for super typhoon 'Karding'


To ensure the safety of the Bulakenyos, the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) on Sunday, Sept. 25, fully prepared all the emergency response teams for the inclement weather caused by the super typhoon "Karding."

Based on Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration's (PAGASA) situational report on Sunday, the province of Bulacan was raised to Signal No. 3 along with the eastern portion of Pampanga (Candaba, Arayat, Santa Ana, San Luis, San Simon, Apalit), Central and southern portions of Aurora (Dingalan, San Luis, Baler, Maria Aurora, Dipaculao); Central and southern portions of Nueva Ecija (Bongabon, Rizal, Llanera, Science City of Muñoz, Guimba, Cuyapo, Talugtug, Nampicuan, San Antonio, Cabiao, San Isidro, City of Gapan, Zaragoza, Jaen, Licab, Quezon, Aliaga, Santa Rosa, San Leonardo, Santo Domingo, Talavera, Cabanatuan City, General Mamerto Natividad, Palayan City, Peñaranda, and General Tinio, Laur, Gabaldon).

Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRM) Executive Officer Liz Mungcal said Governor Daniel R. Fernando immediately declared the cancellation of classes on all levels in both public and private schools due to super typhoon Karding.

Mungcal said Fernando also instructed them to monitor closely the situation wherein emergency response teams are on standby, ready to be deployed as the need arises.

She said the major rivers and the water level stations in the different parts of the province as well as the water elevation at Angat, Ipo, and Bustos Dams were also being closely monitored.

As of 8 a.m. on Sunday, the water level of Angat Dam is at 177.23 meters which is below to flood season high water level of 210,00 meters; Ipo Dam is at 100.70 meters, (spilling level is 101.00 meters); while the Bustos Dam is at 17.25 meters (still below to the spilling level of 17.50 meters).
