Antipolo City, Binangonan experience power outages, floods amid typhoon 'Karding'


Antipolo City and Binangonan, Rizal experienced power outages and flooding on Sunday, Sept. 25. as the city endures strong winds, and intermittent rain brought by super typhoon "Karding."

Antipolo City Disaster Risk Reducation and Management Office (CDRRMO) Officer Relly Bernardo told Manila Bulletin that power outages occured in Sitio Kaysakat in Barangay San Jose; Fatima Subdivision in Barangay San Isidro; Nayon Silangan in Barangay Dalig; and M.L. Quezon Extension in Barangay San Roque.

A fallen tree inside Cuesta Verde Subdivision in Barangay Dalig was also reported to the CDRRMO.

Flooding was reported at Sitio San Joseph Spillway, rendering the area unpassable as of Sunday night.

The Facebook page of Mayor Casimiro Ynares, III and the City Government of Antipolo both posted the hotline numbers of frontline offices of the city government, the police, fire station and other national government agencies, in case the residents have emergency concerns.

As of 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 25, the Antipolo CDRRMO said nine families have been evacuated from Sitio Green Forest in Barangay Dela Paz and Sitio Ruhat 3 in Barangay Mambugan, respectively.

In Binangonan, some 73 families comprising of 353 individuals were evacuated to safety in various barangays in the municipality as of 6 p.m., Sept. 25.

Although heavy rains were noted, there were no power outages and any untoward incident reported to the office of Mayor Cesar Ynares by the Binangonan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
