P5-M aid OK’d for barangays competing at Masskara Festival in Bacolod


BACOLOD CITY – The city government will extend P5 million in cash assistance to participating barangays in the Masskara Festival Street Dance and Electric Masskara Dance Competition in October.

The City Council has approved the proposed Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) granting financial aid amounting to P200,000 for the participants of the Masskara Festival Street Dance competition, totaling P3.4 million, and P150,000 for participating barangays in the Electric Masskara 2022 for a total of P1.95 million.

According to Councilor Jason Villarosa, chairman of the City Council Committee on Tourism, 13 barangays will join the Electric MassKara, while 17 barangays will join the Masskara Festival Street Dance, as of Friday, Sept. 23.

The participating barangays in the Masskara Street Dance Festival are Barangays 7, 12, 14, 22, 26, 27, 31, 34, 35, 40, Singcang-Airport, Alijis, Granada, Alangilan, Estefania, Sum-ag, and Tangub.

For the Electric Masskara 2022, participating barangays are Barangays 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 16, 17, 20, 23, 25, 29, 32, and 39.

Meanwhile, Villarosa said that more than 40 kiosks will occupy the public plaza from Oct. 1 to 23 while stalls will also be put up at the Bacolod City Government Center and Lacson St.

He said that all payments and proceeds will go directly to the festival organizer Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc.
