Father, young son killed in multiple vehicle collision in South Cotabato


KORONADAL CITY – A man and his four-year old son were killed while 17 others were injured after a wayward ten-wheel truck rammed several vehicles on the national highway in Barangay Cebuano, Tupi, South Cotabato on Friday, Sept. 23.

Rolly Duane Aquino, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer, identified the fatalities as Diamaloden Makasaehe, 28, and son, Jannaiden.

Police said the truck driven by Albert Zambrano lost its brakes and struck several vehicles, including the top-down tricycle driven by Diamaloden at past 5 p.m., killing the Makasaehes on the spot.

Aquino said 14 vehicles were damaged, including five motorcycles, three sports utility vehicles, a pick-up truck, and one passenger bus.

Zambrano is under police custody and will face appropriate charges.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has provided financial assistance to victims confined in hospitals here.
