P19 M earmarked for final payout of DSWD educational aid in Western Visayas


ILOILO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-6 has allotted P19 million for the final payout of educational assistance in Western Visayas on Saturday, September 24.

Atty. May Rago-Castillo, DSWD-6 information officer, said 7,105 indigent students will receive cash assistance.

Castillo said in a virtual press briefing on Friday, Sept. 23, the amount is part of the P26 million additional funding from the DSWD Central Office in Quezon City.

Iloilo has the biggest number of student-beneficiaries with 1,811.

Negros Occidental is second with 1,571; Antique, 750; Capiz, 750; Iloilo City, 550; Bacolod City, 537; and Guimaras, 400.

The DSWD-6 reminded that only those who are scheduled for payout on Sept. 24 will be accommodated.
