NPD cops seize P340,000 ‘shabu’ in Caloocan City

Members of the Northern Police District (NPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) confiscated P340,000 worth of “shabu” and arrested a member of a drug syndicate in Caloocan City early Thursday morning, Sept. 22.

Col. Ponce Rogelio Penones Jr., acting NPD director, identified the suspect as Micheal Panogan, 34, from Barangay San Roque, Navotas City and a member of the “Erwin B Drug Group.”

Penones said the Erwin B Drug Group is known for its illegal drug activities in Metro Manila and Bulacan.

The NPD DDEU, led by Lt. Col. Renato Castillo, launched a buy-bust operation against Panogan at the corner of San Miguel and Buklod ng Nayon Streets in Barangay 8, Caloocan City at around 12:50 a.m.

Confiscated from the suspect were 50 grams of alleged shabu with a standard drug price of P340,000 and the buy-bust money.

Penones said the suspect was already charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The confiscated illegal drugs were brought to the NPD Forensic Unit for examinations, police said.
