Member of K-pop boy band Victon caught drunk driving by police in Seoul

A member of K-pop boy band Victon was caught by the police for drunk driving in Seoul and has suspended his activities.

Member Heo Chan, 26, was caught driving under the influence on the morning of Sept. 20 after meeting his acquaintances and is currently being investigated by the Gangnam police.

IST Entertainment and Heo Chan have issued apologies for causing controversy.

“I sincerely bow my head in apology for delivering unfortunate news ahead of many schedules. I once again apologize for causing a social controversy due to my wrong actions on Sept. 20,” he posted on Instagram.

He said, “Even though I should have taken more responsibility for my actions as a public figure who should be an example for the public and fans, it caused great disappointment due to a wrong choice in a moment.”

“I am sincerely reflecting, and I am spending time with regret and self-blame every day,” he said.

Heo Chan added, “I will live with deep reflection in my heart in order to keep all the criticisms and reprimands for irreversible actions in my heart, and to become a person who is not ashamed of myself in the future. I sincerely bow my head and apologize for causing controversy once again.”

IST Entertainment said he is cooperating with the police in their investigation and said it is expected that his driver’s license will be revoked after the investigation.

“Heo Chan plans to take a break from his team and individual activities from today,” the agency said.

His drunk driving controversy came ahead of Victon’s fan concert “Chronicle” that will be held on Oct. 15 and 16 at Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Seoul.

As a result, Heo Chan will be excluded from the concert and Victon’s future activities will be carried out by the five remaining active members: Seungsik, Sejun, Subin, Hanse and Byungchan. Member Seungwoo is currently fulfilling his military service.
