ILOILO CITY – MORE Electric and Power Corp. customers here are paying the second cheapest electricity in the Visayas despite an increase of P3.34 this month.

Residents are now paying P12.48 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in September from P9.14 a month ago.
The increase is still lower than the average rate for residential consumers in the Visayas at P15 per kWh.
Among the 15 major distribution utilities in the Visayas, MORE Power has the second cheapest rate. Guimaras Electric Cooperative, which serves the island province of Guimaras, is the cheapest at P12.17 per kWh.
The most expensive is that of Negros Oriental 1 Electric Cooperative Inc. (NORECO 1) which serves Negros Oriental at P18.11 per kWh.
MORE Power effected the increase after it can no longer get supply from the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (PSALM), a State-owned power firm, after PSALM’s contract with the Unified Leyte Geothermal Power Plant ended.
MORE Power assured customers that it will continue to find ways to ease the increase that consumers have to shoulder with rising cost of fuel and the weakening of the peso.
In July 2021, MORE Power consumers here were only paying P6.4562 per kWh, one of the lowest rates in years.
