Bonuan Boquig National High School (BBNHS) is among the top three finalists in the World’s Best School for Environmental Action.

The program ‘Ilog ko, Aroen ko’ (Ilog ko, mamahalin ko) Adopts a River Project was BBNHS’s entry in the competition. The choice proved pretty nice because it continues to reap recognition not only in the country but also worldwide.

The city government said there are 1,000 entries around the world.

BBNHS was the first to be included in the Top 10 shortlisted in the same tilt and is one of three schools in the entire Philippines that entered the World’s Best School.

As the representative of Dagupan and the country in the Environmental Action category, BBNHS competed against Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Greece, Indonesia, Malawi, Palestine, Switzerland, and the UAE.

Mayor Belen Fernandez congratulated the BBHNS and all those who made the “Ilog ko, Aroen ko” Project.

“I congratulate you for being an inspiration to us all and for making it to the Top 3 of the World’s Best School for Environmental Action 2022…you have made this City proud for this victory,” said Mayor Belen.

The most awaited part is the announcement of the grand winners on October 19, 2022 in conjunction with the celebration of World Education Week.

The World’s Best School Prizes is hosted by T4 Education, a global education organization that aims to recognize the excellence and dedication of schools in the world ‘in transforming the lives of their students.’

According to the DENR, BBNHS has planted 50,000 mangrove propagules in the Longos River in Bonuan.

The casting of votes for the top three finalists started on Thursday (Sept. 22).

The World’s Best School Prizes identify and celebrate schools’ leading and innovative practices that have impacted the lives of their students and their community.

The categories for the prize include Environmental Action, Community Collaboration, Innovation, Overcoming Adversity, and Supporting Healthy Lives.
