Belle Mariano, Kang Daniel, Yusei Yagi receive their trophies at 17th Seoul International Drama Awards 


Filipino actress Belle Mariano, K-pop star Kang Daniel, and Japanese actor and singer Yusei Yagi attended the 17th Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA) held on Sept. 22 at the KBS Hall in Seoul.

The three along with other stars were named winners in the SDA online poll conducted in August among Hallyu fans around the world to pick their choices for the Korean drama and Outstanding Asian Star categories.

Mariano of “He’s Into Her” and Yusei of “My Beautiful Man” emerged as winners for Outstanding Asian Star in the Philippines and Japan, respectively.

In her acceptance speech at the SDA, Mariano said, “I am a proud Filipino. Thank you Seoul International Drama Awards for this recognition. I would like to thank the Father Almighty. The glory is all Yours.” She also thanked her co-star Donny Pangilinan and her management.

Mariano topped the poll for Outstanding Asian Star (Philippines) with 62.34 percent of the votes followed by Pangilinan with 27.16 percent; Maris Racal of “The Broken Marriage Vow” with 4.79 percent; Jodi Sta. Maria of “The Broken Marriage Vow” with 2.69 percent and Zanjoe Marudo of “The Broken Marriage Vow” with 2.61 percent.

Kang Daniel accepted the award for Outstanding K-pop Idol. He got 45 percent of the votes, followed by Jaechan, 32.05 percent; Sehun, 9.02 percent; Jinyoung, 2.95 percent; and Jisoo, 2.13 percent.
