Teenager nabbed for gun possession inside Zamboanga bus terminal

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A teenager who arrived at the Zamboanga Integrated Bus Terminal on Wednesday, Sept. 20 for a date with his chat mate was arrested by police for illegal possession of a gun.

Nikko Pagador Escubedo, 19, and a resident of Jose Dalman town in Zamboanga del Norte, alighted from a passenger bus and passed by the x-ray machine where security forces spotted a gun tucked in his waistband.

Police recovered a 9mm pistol with bullets from the passenger after his arrest.

In an interview with media men, Escubedo said he came to Zamboanga City to meet his girlfriend who he met on social media.

He said he brought his grandfather's firearm to protect himself from lawless elements.
