This developed as Marcos met with senior executives from US-based companies NuScale Power, WasteFuel, and Boeing in New York on Monday afternoon, September 19 (New York time).

In a Tweet, Marcos said he discussed with the companies how they could work together to strengthen the aviation and energy sector in the Philippines.

"We are committed to the administration's goal of sustainable development and are hopeful that companies like them can help us achieve our goals for the welfare of our people," he wrote.

Boeing is an American corporation that designs, manufactures, and sells airplanes, rotorcraft, rockets, satellites, telecommunications equipment, and missiles.

He also met officials from NuScale, an American company that designs and markets small modular reactors, and WasteFuel, a leading bio-refinery developer that produces renewable fuels using proven technologies to address the climate emergency and revolutionize mobility.

In a Facebook Live video, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles did not disclose the result of the meetings but assured the public that they went well. She said she is waiting for an update from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) about the meetings.

Marcos is in New York to attend the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He will speak at the High-Level General Debates at 3:15 p.m. on September 20 (New York time).

Aside from participating in the UNGA, the President said he would meet with business leaders to aid the Philippines' economic transformation.

He is still expected to have roundtable discussions with business leaders from different industries, such as garments, information technology, and digital infrastructure.
