Heavy rain causes gutter-deep floods along Taft Avenue, Manila

A heavy downpour caused gutter-deep floods along Taft Avenue in Manila on Tuesday morning, Sept. 20.

In a report from DZMM Teleradyo, gutter-deep floodwater was seen along Taft Avenue corner U.N. Avenue as of 8:30 a.m., causing traffic in the area.

The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) Operations Section, in a Facebook post, said it is conducting a roving operation to check the condition of other areas in the city.

On Tuesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rains may persist in Metro Manila until Wednesday, Sept. 21, due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
