City Health Office reports 92% recovery from acute gastroenteritis cases in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY – A total of 570 patients out 618 have recovered from waterborne and foodborne disease acute gastroenteritis, the city health office here reported.
The recovery rate was 92 percent, and that the Iloilo City Health Office (ICHO) said that as of Sept. 19 however, there are still 36 active cases of acute gastroenteritis after 11 new cases have been recorded.
The death toll remains at 12, or two percent of the total recorded cases.
The Iloilo City government declared a state of calamity last Sept. 2 as cases of acute gastroenteritis went up.
Dr. Marigold Calsas, chief of the ICHO-City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU), said that 15 are still admitted in the hospital for treatment.
The ICHO-CESU also found that the daily rate of acute gastroenteritis also dropped to 11.
This is a significant drop to the 105 average daily cases during the peak of the acute gastroenteritis outbreak, which happened from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6.
