This program celebrates kasambahays for their hard work and services
By Poch Eulalia

Although we’ve had many kasambahays (household workers) come and go through the years, one fact remains: These people have made our lives easier.
Many who grew up with caretakers never had to worry about their next meal, or about keeping their rooms clean. If we needed anything, all we had to do was ask and our yayas would find a way to give us what we needed.
Nowadays, living without a household worker to do the chores and cooking, I’ve realized just how crucial they are with the services they provide. The amount of work they do is enough to warrant them the status of a modern-day bayani, always ensuring that we live a worry-free life as they tackle all the grunt work for us.

It’s nice to know that companies, such as the Palawan Group, partner with the Junior Chamber International Senate Philippines, Inc. (JCI) to give recognition to household workers through the Kasambahay Kasambuhay Pilipinas Awards.
Now in its seventh year, the Kasambahay Kasambuhay Pilipinas Awards seeks to inspire and honor our kasambahays who lovingly serve with hard work, loyalty, and integrity.
‘Kasambahays are selfless not just because they help other people but because they also epitomize the admirable traits of dedication to service, loyalty, and trustworthiness.’
“This program rightfully honors our kasambahays who not only serve their employers with loyalty and integrity but also support their families by sending most of their wages,” says Bobby Castro, Palawan Pawnshop Group CEO and president. “Kasambahays are selfless not just because they help other people but because they also epitomize the admirable traits of dedication to service, loyalty, and trustworthiness.”

JCI National president Sen. Henry T. Juan Tong, meanwhile, says, “Our kasambahays provide a range of services denominated as household chores. As we encounter them day in and day out in our everyday lives, it comes as no surprise that many of them have become family to us.”
To be eligible for the Kasambahay Kasambuhay Pilipinas Awards 2022, kasambahays can nominate themselves or they could be nominated by employers. No older than 75 years years old, they should have rendered services for their current employer for at least five years.
The top 10 chosen awardees will each get a ₱100,000 prize and those who will be chosen to fill the 11th to 30th places (no minimum years of service) spots will each get a ₱10,000 prize. Ten of the most liked and shared Facebook posts will also win a ₱5,000 prize. JCIkasambahay
