The Nayong Pilipino is in dire need of sufficient funding to regain the foundation’s purpose of preserving cultural heritage and sustainable tourism in the country.
Jovertlee C. Pudan, deputy executive director of the Nayong Filipino Foundation (NFP), also urged the national government to allocate the funding for the construction of a new park.
In a forum organized to mark the 50th anniversary, Pudan said they are just waiting for the funding to build their new cultural and theme park in Parañaque to accommodate millions of visitors who are excited to experience the park.
“Nandiyan pa rin po ang NPF. Yes, nawala po yung park physically, but we’re still here. Mayroon po kaming 15 hectares na lupa waiting to be developed (The NPF is still here. The park may have been closed physically, but we still have a 15-hectare property waiting to be developed)," said Pudan.
The NFP, an attached agency of the Department of Tourism (DOT) is an institution known to be the promoter of the heritage and cultural identity of Filipinos.
The NPF Park is a recognized hub for research, innovation, and training on cultural heritage. It also caters to creativity, development, and recreation of Filipino heritage and culture.
“Ang isinisigaw ng NPF ay sana bigyan na kami ng pondo. Yes ito ang isinisigaw namin. Mayroon po kaming lupa na 15 hectares na waiting po to be developed kapag ang pondo ay maging available na at pwede na naming tayuan (What the NPF is longing for is give us the funding that we need. We have 15 hectares of land waiting to be developed once the funding become available),” said Pudan.
The NPF Park in Clark Pampanga was closed for renovation in 2019 while the Philippines was hosting the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
