BACOLOD CITY -- A man’s headless body and severed head were found in Barangay Zone 16, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Sept. 17, a police report said.

Police identified the victim as Mario Demetrio, 48, of Barangay Singcang-Airport here.
Talisay police chief Lt. Col. Arthur Baybayan said Demetrio’s body was found near his severed head in a dimly-lit part of the barangay.
Concerned citizens reported the headless body to the police.
Demetrio’s severed head had a gunshot wound, while his body suffered injuries. His hands were also hogtied and had no upper clothing.
He was identified by his 66-year-old mother at the funeral parlor the following day.
Baybayan believed the victim might have been killed somewhere, and was just dumped in the place.
Meanwhile, Capt. Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 7, said that Demetrio’s death could be linked to the murder of a commercial sex worker, who was found dead in Barangay Alijis here on Sept. 8.
Bonilla said that Demetrio, a pimp, was allegedly last seen with the slain commercial sex worker before the latter was picked up by a car at the Goldenfield Commercial Complex here on the night of Sept. 7.
Bonilla said they were looking for Demetrio a day after the killing of the commercial sex worker, as he could probably help the police in the latter’s murder case. However, he could no longer be found.
Police are exploring all angles, including the possible link of the brutal killing to the death of the commercial sex worker.
