Four hundred volunteers from the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Camarines Sur Chapter were dispatched to the recently concluded Our Lady of Peñafrancia Festival in Naga City, Camarines Sur.
The volunteers set up first aid stations and welfare desks at 24 different locations to assist and give medical attention to the festival attendees, PRC said in a Facebook post.
The more than a week-long festival, held last Sept. 9 to 17, was attended by thousands of Peñafrancia devotees as per PRC.
PRC Camarines Sur Chapter volunteers also participated in the Peñafrancia Festival - Civic Parade on Sept. 15.
The feast of Our Lady of Peñafrancia or the Patroness of the Bicol Region is celebrated every 3rd Saturday of September.
A fluvial procession on the Naga River was held on Sept. 17 where the image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia was returned back from the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral to the Basilica Minore de Peñafrancia through a pagoda.
It was the highlight and culminating activity of the festival.
Among the activities held during the celebration were Miss Bicolandia, Penafrancia Traslacion Procession, Regional Scouts Parade, Drum and Bugle Corps Competition, Float Competition, and Bicol Regional Military Parade Bands Exhibition.
