Gov’t troopers join DENR in coastal clean-up in Aparri

CAGAYAN -- The government troops belonging to the 77th Infantry Battalion joined the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in a simultaneous coastal clean-up drive with the theme: ``Fighting for Trash-Free Seas Pinas!" on Saturday, Sept. 17, in Aparri town.

With the stakeholders, the troops collected sacks of garbage in the coastal barangays of Macanaya, Maura, Punta, and San Antonio, in Aparri.

Trash and other garbage are a serious threat in our marine environment, said LtC Magtangol G. Panopio, commander of the 77IB Battalion.

The official said participating in this kind of endeavor is vital, adding that the troopers are ‘always ready to help.’

The activity is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 470 declared as International Coastal Clean-up Drive.

The officer also said that the troopers are one in preserving, protecting, and promoting marine environments.
