A total of 766 Navotas City residents received livelihood assistance from the city government through its "NavoAhon Ayuda" program on Wednesday, Sept. 14, and Thursday, Sept. 15.
Navotas City Mayor John Reynald “John Rey” Tiangco led the aid distribution at the NBBN Covered Court for the third batch of beneficiaries who were given P1,000 to P3,000 cash each.
Among the beneficiaries, 400 are displaced workers; 105 delivery riders, jeepney, tricycle, and pedicab drivers; 21 jobseekers who graduated in school year 2020-2021; 60 entreprenuers whose businesses were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic; and 180 new business owners.
The local government said the NavoAhon Ayuda is part of a series of programs the city government has lined up for the residents. It aims to help the residents who were severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The number of COVID-19 cases is now declining. More Navoteños are now able to return to work and businesses have resumed operations. However, many are still struggling,” Tiangco said.
“It may take us a while to fully recover from the effects of the pandemic and we want to extend all possible assistance to our constituents until then,” the mayor added.
The local government said that another batch of beneficiaries is expected to receive the livelihood assistance next month.
The city government already conducted the distribution of the first and second batches of aid under the program in February and March where over around 2,500 beneficiaries received the cash aid.
