Organizers of the 27th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) announced that Korean stars Ryu Jun-yeol of “Reply 1988” and Jeon Yeo-bin of “Vincenzo” will be the hosts of the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony will be held on Oct. 5 at the Busan Cinema Center. This year’s BIFF will run from Oct. 5 to 14 in the City of Busan in South Korea.
Ryu Jun-yeol attended the 20th Busan International Film Festival in 2015 and met the audience through the film “One Way Trip.”
Jeon Yeo-bin took home the actress of the year award at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival with “After My Death” in 2017.
The BIFF opening ceremony will be held without social distancing for the first time after three years of the pandemic.
This year, the BIFF reopened sections and supporting projects that were previously not held due to Covid-19. These include the Midnight Passion, Asian Cinema Fund, Platform Busan, Forum BIFF and the Asian Film Academy.
Ryu Jun-yeol’s debut film was “Socialphobia” in 2015. He has appeared in films and dramas such as “Reply 1988,” “Lucky Romance,” “Believer” and “A Taxi Driver.”
In “Alienoid,” released in July, he portrayed the role of Mureuk, a master who tries to get his hands on the divine sword.
Jeon Yeo-bin’s acting projects include “After My Death,” “Night in Paradise,” “Be Melodramatic” and “Vincenzo.” Her film “Glitch” has been invited to the BIFF’s On Screen section.
