The Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) 2022 is set to open today. Organized by the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), this biennial event brings the country's biggest auto manufacturers and distributors together to showcase their latest vehicles and technologies.
This year's motor show returns after a four-year hiatus where the motoring industry players have been constantly adjusting and adapting to the needs of consumers relative to the impacts of the pandemic. Despite the show’s long absence, the country’s top auto manufacturers are keenly aware of the mobility needs have radically changed.
Over the pandemic, the automotive industry continued to move forward by providing mobility solutions that cater to the ever-changing needs of Filipinos. These include offering no-contact means of browsing vehicles, purchasing, and even scheduling service appointments. New models have also been launched featuring even more sophisticated mobile connectivity. Safety has also made leaps and bounds, with many systems now included that constantly watch for dangers on the road. Finally, even the means of propulsion has changed with some brands offering electrified or even fully-electric powertrains to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
As such, this year’s theme of “Mobility + Humanity: Innovating for the Common Good” hopes to reflect these new mobility needs. Expect exhibits to introduce innovations that will provide safer, more efficient, and sustainable mobility.
